As you may remember, Sunday was Mark and my first anniversary.  We celebrated by going to a restaurant called Sunset 44 Bistro.  Neither Mark nor I had been there before.

I have been talking to my family about old favorites, so when I saw Pork Schnitzel on the menu, I had to get it.

Here is the Sunset 44 version.  My mom never made it with a fried egg on top, but the dish was still great.  It was comfort food gourmet-style.

Speaking of comfort food, another dish that my family and I reminisced about was Macaroni & hot dogs.  Honestly, I’ve been thinking about it for over a week so I decided it was time to cave.

Yes, I really did that.  And yes, it was good.

We did make two Real Simple recipes so far this week.  The one I made on Monday – Red-Currant Glazed Chicken with Spinach was a major flop.  The chicken was greasy and hard to eat.  I just really didn’t like it.  After making it, I’m sorry to say, but I have serious doubts as to whether I’m going to complete this challenge.

Tonight, Mark picked up the reins and made Curry Shrimp with Snow Peas.  I really liked this one – the only thing was that the shrimp tasted a little off.  But I don’t think that was the recipe’s fault, or Mark’s fault.  With better shrimp, this would have been perfect.  I liked the crispy peas and bean sprouts and the flavor of the curry sauce.

On the running front, I haven’t ran since the half.  It feels kind of nice to take a break.  I would like to revisit my future goals and plans, because other than running a 10k in a couple of weeks, I don’t have any other future races.  It’s kind of nice actually.  This year, I will have ran more races than any other year.  Maybe that sets me up for a nice goal for 2011 ;)
