Thoughts I have on Waking Up Earlier
Here are some thoughts I have written down about my struggle to wake up earlier to work out:
I have tried these suggested tactics:
1) putting the alarm far away
2) putting out my clothes to work out
3) thinking up a reward for doing it
4) asking Mark to help me
5) telling myself I will go to a class
6) using a lighted alarm clock, also, changing settings on alarm clock (buzz, music, etc.)I have not tried, but heard these tactics work:
1) meeting someone for a run or at the gym (who??)
2) wearing w/o clothes to bed (at least not recently)
3) going to bed earlier (10 is already early…)
4) printing out a calendar and keeping track of each day I do get up on time
5) trying to do a gradual change (this could work if I have patience)
6) doing a “practice” wake up exercise
7) promise myself I don’t have to work out, just get up.
eating something as soon as I get upI have read:
1) that I need to be consistent about it
2) having a buddy helps
3) not to use snooze (i don’t, I just shut off the clock)
4) eating first helps, food motivatesANY OTHER IDEAS?? Please add to the comments! I need all the help I can get.

30 days
I have a plan – and goal – and for the next 30 days I am going to wake up at 6 a.m. at least. The idea is so that I will get a run in before work. I do not plan on working out every morning for the next 30 days (the majority of them I do) but I think it will be essential to continue to wake up early each morning even when I have no workout planned as a way to create a routine and to keep myself on schedule. I have read that makes it easier to stick to as a habit – sleeping in will put you back at square one.Tomorrow- a SATURDAY! – will be day one. (Oh, how I love to suffer.) Ironically, I find it easier to wake up early on the weekends. I don’t know what it is – dread of facing the workday that is removed? Anyway, I’m sure I will speak to how “easy” it is tomorrowI will check in weekly so for you readers this will be a bonus. No more staring at a stale post from a few months ago! -
marathon?
What marathon?
No I didn’t run it.
Not because of injury.
Because of crappy planning in training, and fear, I talked myself out of it.
