I didn’t meet my goal last week of four runs :( I only got in 2. I am going to keep the same goal for this week. 1 run already down :)

My eating last week was pretty good, though, so I am proud of that.

Tonight I will look through my Marathon book (Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide) and look at training plans for the Chicago marathon. I will probably do a beginner one, but which beginner plan is the question. :)

I think I might post daily food intake and workouts for a little while. Maybe that’s boring? Embarrassing? I might try that for a little while. I am feeling pudgy and masochistic, and that plan seems to fit for this mood.

So, I have been MIA for quite a while. Here’s what happened with the marathon:
    - I got 3/4 of the way through full marathon training when I developed IT band problems with my left knee, which I’ve only had with my right knee before. It was pretty weird, I finished a 16 miler and felt great, no problems. A couple weeks later or so I did an 8 miler and later that day it hurt to stand.
    - Because of that, it messed up my long run schedule
    - Because of that, I thought it better to downgrade to the half
    - I finished the half
    - But it was a personal worst! It was surprising, to say the least.

I have taken some time off running, and that has been good. It’s made my eating more reasonable, that’s for sure!

I did sign up for Chicago in October, so I probably need to start training in June. I want to use the rest of May to get into a routine again. It has been incredibly stressful at work so a routine is going to be important. I think the running will be good for the stress too – give me a chance to reflect on the day ahead, a little peace, and at least have some part of the day go right. I do need to watch what I eat better though as I increase my workouts again, to be honest I have 10 pounds on me that probably didn’t make my half marathon any faster. I might post menus here for accountability but we’ll see.

Anyway, the plan for tomorrow is 4 mile run and a full day at work preparing for trial. The goal for the next week is to complete 4 runs. This will be a pretty big challenge since work has been so demanding I have to stay late and it means these runs will be IN THE MORNING. And I am not in the habit of doing that!
